Virtual ID is only with the Aadhar card holder.

    It is very important to know here that the Virtual ID has to be generated before locking the Aadhaar Card. If you do not have a virtual ID, then you can also generate your virtual ID by SMS to the helpline number 1947 of Aadhaar. Virtual ID is a 16 digit number.

    To generate the Virtual ID, you have to SMS 1947 from your mobile by writing a message – GVID XXXX (XXXX is the last four digits of your Aadhaar number).

    First of all, you have to open https://resident.uidai.gov.in/ in the browser of your mobile or laptop. Here you have to click on the ‘Aadhaar Services’ tab under ‘My Aadhaar Section’. After this you have to click on ‘Aadhaar Lock and Unlock Service’. After which a new page will open in front of you. Here you have to select the option of Lock UID. After this you have to enter the Aadhaar number. Here you have to enter your full name and then enter your pin code. After that you have to enter the security code and click on send OTP. After entering the OTP, you will be able to lock your Aadhaar card.
