With Smart Downloads feature, users will be able to watch video content even when there is no active internet connection. With the help of the new feature, videos will be automatically downloaded to the Android device when connected to Wi-Fi. The new Smart Downloads feature allows you to download up to 20 recommended videos per week, which can be viewed later.

    Testing being done with selected subscribers

    Reports have revealed that Google Family‘s new experimental feature of the YouTube app is being tested with select subscribers. A new feature has been given to these users for a fixed period of time and feedback will be taken from them. Such a Smart Downloads function is also available in the YouTube Music app. Songs are downloaded offline during Wi-Fi connectivity according to the music previously listened by the users.

    Users are getting the feature in Europe

    9to5Google gave information about the new feature being tested on Android by YouTube in its report. According to the report, the Smart Downloads feature will download 20 videos offline every week, but for this, the device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi. To access offline content, users will be able to go to the Downloads page of the Library tab and tap on the Smart Downloads option. The report states that the feature is currently being tested only in Europe.

    The YouTube Music app also offers a similar Smart Downloads feature to its premium subscribers. In this way, users can download the songs of their choice to the device and listen to them later in offline mode. When this feature is enabled, the app automatically downloads music of the user’s choice during Wi-Fi connectivity. However, it is necessary to be connected to the Internet at least once in 30 days.

    Listening Controls feature for premium users

    YouTube is also rolling out a new Listening Controls feature in its mobile app for premium users. With the new feature, listening to music on the platform will become easier. With its help, videos can be played, paused, forward and rewinded. This feature can be accessed by tapping on the three dots in the top right corner of the YouTube video. The platform is offering this feature only to premium paying users.
